BASF ranked first in the top 50 global chemical companies and ranked second in Dow's list

among the top 50 global chemical companies in 2008 released by chemistry and engineering under the American Chemical Society, German chemical giant BASF ranked first again with a sales volume of US $70.5 billion, which is the company's ranking first for six consecutive years; Dow Chemical ranked second again with us $58billion

sales rose and profits fell sharply

the list is ranked according to the sales and profit performance of Companies in 2008. According to the statistical results, the total sales of the top 50 companies increased by 9.6% over the previous year, reaching US $892billion, including the product price increase caused by high oil prices. From the perspective of the profit indicators of the top 50, the impact of the economic downturn was clearly felt. Its total profit fell to $60billion, a decline of nearly 27% better than the ductility and toughness of standard molecular weight peek products. The average profit margin index also fell sharply from 10.3% in 2007 to 7.5% in 2008

as far as BASF is concerned, its sales revenue fell by nearly 1% year-on-year, but its profit index fell by 40%, with a relatively strong decline to US $3.9 billion. Moreover, most of its profits are not from the chemical business, but from its Windsor oil and natural gas exploration business. Dow Chemical's profit fell more sharply, down 44.1% year-on-year to $2.2 billion, while its sales increased by 7.5% year-on-year

thanks to the merger activity

analysts believe that BASF and Dow Chemical are likely to rank first and second again on the list next year, because both companies completed a large merger activity in April this year. BASF bought Ciba Specialty Chemicals, a manufacturer of specialty chemicals, whose sales revenue in 2008 was $5.5 billion, but did not enter the top 50 list; Dow Chemical took Rohm and Haas under its command - Qian Guijing, vice president of China Light Industry Federation and President of China Plastics Processing Industry Association, made a speech at the 5th session of the 6th Council of China Plastics Association. Rohm and Haas ranked 42nd in this year's ranking with a sales revenue of 8.4 billion US dollars
